Salary vs mortgage amount uk

So what's the norm...

Well... Your mortgage in the uk is very dependant on your earnings.. Simple really.. Can you afford to pay it back... Sort of what risk are you...

Most mortgage companies in the uk offer around about 2 1/2 times your salary.. As most houses are bought by couples, your be able to borrow a fair amount of money...

The above is not gospel in anyway as I know people whom have borrow close to 4 times their salary then 3..

So some quick maths..
2 people (a couple) can borrow 2 1/2 time the salary thus an avg. couple earning £20,000 each would be able to borrow £40,000 x 2.5 = £100,000 So with only a 10% deposit that would make the maximum value of a property available to this couple @ £110,000 (about)
